A must-have for mushroom lovers every where. This guide includes detailed descriptions and photos of some of the most common mushrooms and other fungi found in Alaska. It includes many more species not covered in the first two books. • Color photos for over 150 species • Detailed descriptions for identifying species • Information on fungi at the genus and family level • Information on edible and poisonous species • Former and alternate names of species • A glossary of technical terms • References for further study While there is some overlap with the other two books in this series: "Edible Mushrooms of Alaska" and "Poisonous Mushrooms of Alaska", the photos for these species has been changed. You can never have too many mushroom books!
Another great mushroom guide by this writer! DT I have a new appreciation for mushrooms after reading the introduction to this book. Not only are they nutritional powerhouses loaded with protein, potassium, selenium, zinc and vitamins B and D but they can actually clean up the environment as well by breaking down toxins. I also found myself admiring the photos of these stunning, colorful and sometimes odd looking fungi. This thorough guide will help you find the freely available mushrooms scattered throughout Alaska and will hone your mushroom hunting skills. Great guide! ~.
