Original and Well Written Sarah I'm in love with anything in the Arthurian legends and this book was well done. Things that made it stand out: usually in these 'kid turned hero' stories the kid is an orphan or whatever and it was so nice to see a story with a loving supportive family. the role of 'the girl' in the story was also a different twist. I can't give it away but the role she has is very outside the usual realms of sexist female stereotypes and was very original.Also, must note, it's well written. author obviously took time and care to edit. which was refreshing among so many hastily self-published books.. Around his 15th birthday, Danny Dirk finds out he is one of the last living heirs of Arthur Pendragon's line and it's his duty to protect an ancient pact between men and dragons. Faced not only with the shock and struggles of finding out about his heritage, Danny also has to face a rebel army of dragons who wants to shatter the pact and enter into war with humanity.A few of my favorite aspects of the novel were the likable and realistic characters, the witty humor, and that it took a fairly common story line and made it into its own thing. There have been many books about normal little boys that become heroes through a prophecy or family secret. I thought this was just going to be another variation of that.However, I was delighted to find otherwise. Without giving too much good stuff away, the story line kept me intrigued and wanting more.
