I found myself across the continent, playing minor league football. You even know Kylie's story. You don't know mine, yet. You don't know what a broken heart is until you've loved someone your whole life, only to have her slip through your fingers because you waited too long. You know Kylie's parents' story. You know my mom and dad's story. And how do you live with that? How do you go through the motions when she's there as a reminder of what you lost, of what you could have had but were too damn chicken to go after? I couldn't. That got taken away from me too. That's regret. So I left. That's right, I ran away. A career-ending injury left me down-and-out, scraping the bottom of the barrel, hating myself and hating life. I mean, at least I still had football, right? Nope. That's heartbreak. And then I met Cheyenne Leveaux, my physical therapist, who became my one and only friend, the one bright light in the darkness of my messed up life. But of course nothing is ever simple, or easy. Tragedy struck, and the rug was swept out from under me yet again, and this time the guilt, the doubt, the secrets
Ben is redeemed I wanted to give this book five stars because I have loved this series so much. The reason that I didn't do five stars is that I just didn't feel a connection with Echo. I usually like the female lead, but for some reason (and I am probably in the minority) I just didn't feel her. First off, I almost stopped reading the book because by reading the blurb I thought the love interest for Ben was going to be Cheyenne and I just don't like reading about much older women and younger men. Thank goodness the story went another way and I could continue reading. This story was full of emotions. I l. Simply amazing! So I just love, love, love all of Jasinda Wilder's books---the ones I've read so far that is! This book was awesome. I read the first 3 books quite a while back and just happened to stumble onto Ben and Echo's story. Ben's struggle to overcome his lost love brought me to tears. And of course how he meets Echo was also very emotional. The way Jasinda writes just draws you in, letting you feel like you actually know these characters. These characters aren't perfect, which just makes the story that much better. Great, great, great book!!. it was a great book. I won't give any spoolers but if Shiloh it was a great book. I won't give any spoolers but if you like a good love story with a happy ending then you will love this book.
