And I loved the section on psychological foods, especially because my apparently mistaken assumption that I couldn't include any 'comfort' food in my stock always turned me off the idea of going deeper into food prepping in case of an emergency.Book could use just a touch more editing, and I would have appreciated a bit more information abou. Disgustingly Good! This is a great introduction to home food preservation. I found shelf life of each of the foods to be the most beneficial. This is something that as a beginner I have always struggled with. This book is a wonderful addition to my library in that I have all the important information for preserving right at my fingertips in a user friendly, easy to read format.I particularly liked the part about which insects to eat and what they taste like, along with the benefits of each of them. As disgusting as it sounds, I think this information is important.Another indispensable piece of the book is the chapter "Gourmet Foods: Savi. Wonderful introduction. An introduction to Home Food Preservation by Jonathon Toth covers exactly that, the basics. You can easily get started from this guide and you will have a much higher survival rate in a cataclysmic event than someone without the knowledge within this guide. However, if you find yourself as a 'hard core' doomsday prepper this book will be useless. As a starting point it was amazing. It covers shelf life, it has a few basic recipes made from properly preserved foods.
