Good basic information Good, basic information and lots of observations. Illustrations are not very good resolution but passible. Needs updating as the book is dated. No mention of sprites.. "lightning properties" according to mikeo. Having purchased three of Martin Uman's publications I must admit that the knowledge gained for my own research where I live will be extremely helpful. Not only on the simplest aspects of how lightning starts, but what the actual flash consists of and subsequent return stroke initiation.
